Listen very carefully. When a person gets saved, some incredible things happen. By putting their trust at what Jesus did at Calvary, number one: your sins are paid for, they're forgiven. Now I've heard people say: “Well, God just forgets about them.” No, no, no. Men, Jesus paid for your sins on Calvary and if you accept the payment Jesus made, then you do not have to pay your sins for all eternity. But if you say no to the payment Jesus made, oh my friend, then unthinkably the day you leave this life, God says you will go to a place so bad, God calls it hell, and you will pay for your sins for all eternity. That's unimaginable to me but the scriptures are clear.
Do you understand? If you're saved, the closest to any hellish thing you'll ever see is in this life, but if you're not saved, this life is the closest thing to anything heavenly you'll ever see because when you leave this life, oh my, your sins are forgiven, but not just your sins are forgiven when you get saved, heaven becomes your home and you're not going as a visitor, you're going as family. How many of you are glad you're part of the family of God? You're welcomed to come to my house as a visitor but when family comes, it is different. They have the run of the place because they're family.
Your sins are forgiven. Heaven is your home. But a third thing happens. The Bible says the day you get saved, the very Spirit of God takes residence in you. And do you understand the Bible says the very Spirit that has the power that raised Jesus from the dead is living in you? Oh my. And God says: “I want you to know, one of the blessings of being my child is that I will help you where you could never help yourself. I will give you divine enablement by that Spirit, by that power.”
